When I started Mprint Co in 2021, I was fueled by a passion for creating and a dream to build something uniquely mine. I had big plans for the year 2022, hoping to launch a website and take my part-time side hustle full-time. However, life has its way of reshaping our dreams and infusing them with deeper meanings. For me, that profound shift came when my husband and I got the surprise of a lifetime days after our wedding: we were going to be parents!
Navigating this new chapter, I was in a whirlwind of excitement and, honestly, a bit of panic. How do I balance being a new mom mom with my dreams for Mprint Co? One of the biggest hurdles I faced was letting go of the steady income from my full-time job. The safety net it provided was reassuring, but deep down, I knew that if Mprint Co was ever going to truly succeed, I needed to dedicate all of my energy towards it. Despite not feeling “ready” and not having as much monthly income as I thought I should, I decided to quit my marketing job and just go for it. It was a gamble, but one that felt right for both my growing family and my business.
The transition to full-time Mprint Co had plenty of ups and downs. I poured my heart and soul into it, channeling my energy into expanding my client base and diversifying my portfolio. Sometimes this meant designing for free, just to get my work out there. The hustle paid off when I landed an exciting project to design the logo for a brand of military jackets that would be featured at The University of Texas Co-Op, my alma mater. It was a proud moment, seeing my work showcased in a place that held so many memories for me, even though I was just a small part of the project (worth mentioning, the fashion icon Loreal Sarkisian ended up wearing one of the jackets, which means she has seen my work!). In between taking on new clients, I was also finally able to get a website built for Mprint Co, beginning the foundation for its online presence.
On June 23, 2022, my daughter Izzy was born. She has completely transformed how I view the world and has allowed me to find a new balance between life and work, all while redefining success on my own terms. Izzy has brought so much joy and inspiration into every aspect of my life. She’s a reminder that sometimes, the best plans are the ones we never saw coming.
The gamble to focus on Mprint Co full-time proved to be a pivotal decision. After Izzy’s first birthday, we experienced our most significant growth yet in the fall of ’23. This surge wasn’t just about the numbers; it was a testament to the power of perseverance, belief in one’s vision, and the incredible support of family.
I’m immensely grateful to be experiencing the success of Mprint Co with my sweet Izzy by my side. Family is everything to me, and nothing is better than bringing my daughter along for the beautiful ride. Our journey together has just begun, and I can’t wait to see where it takes us next.
